The latest against ÂSlumdog MillionaireÂ

A mistake that never surfaced till now is now going to prove pain in the neck for the makers of ÂSlumdog MillionaireÂ. Savitha Singh Nepali has filed a case against the film. Though people have filed a couple of other cases against the hugely celebrated film, this one sure take the cake.
The cause for approaching the court is due to misinterpretation of a fact. DonÂt we all remember the scene in ÂSlumdog Millionaire where the protagonist Jamaal is asked by the quiz master a question about the writer of the song ÂDarshan Do Ghanshayam Nath Mori Ankhiya PyasiÂ.
The options given to Jamaal for this question were Tulsidas, Kabir, Meerabai and Surdas. The protagonist picks out ÂSurdas which is proclaimed the right answer by the quiz master played by Anil Kapoor.
Savitha Sing Nepali has now brought into light that the song was not actually written by Surdas but by her father Gopal Singh Nepali. The song is from a film titled as ÂNarsi Bhagat which came out in the year 1957. Gopal Singh Nepali had worked for Hindi films as a lyricist for around 20 years before he died in the year 1963.
Savitha, who runs the Gopal Singh Nepali Foundation, has filed the case in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Patna.
The case has been filed against the director of ÂSlumdog Millionaire  Danny Boyle, producer of the film, author Vikas Swarup on whose novel ÂQ and A the filmÂs core is based, Chairman of the Oscar Awards committee and the Chairman of the Golden Globe Awards Committee.
